The Persian Rite of Spring, written/created/performed by Niloufar in collaboration with composer and video artist Bobak Salehi, is a theatrical show about the history, mythology, folklore and celebrations of Norouz, a thousands-year old tradition celebrated by Persians/Iranians and others around the world. The birth of light and its victory over dark is an archetypical dynamic with origins in ancient mythology, Zoroastrian cosmology, and folkloric stories. The Persian Rite of Spring brings to life, through poetry, stories, music and images, the series of ceremonies from Yalda (Winter Solstice) through 13-Bedar (Outdoor 13) that usher in the renewal of the world each spring. DVD is in High Definition.

The Persian Rite of Spring world-premiered at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on March 14, 2010. http://www.persianriteofspring.com/shapeimage_2_link_0
